This greeting card was personalized to a friend that I wanted to thank him for. Since I wanted to create a Turkish look and feel, I researched on the Internet type and calligraphy that coordinated with the photos of the "Blue Mosque" in Istambul Turkey. This was where the hat that I borrowed from him for a party was purchased.

Then I looked up in an online Turkish-English dictionary how to say my message. I copied the lettering of the translated message and practiced the calligraphy on a scratch piece of paper in order to create clean lettering on the actual card. This is an important step in hand lettering, Always practive twice with the type before beginning to letter in order to workout the layout, borders, font style. This will add a more professiona stule to the card.

I used tape, ink, a filtered photograph and reference an Ottoman caligraphy work online to create this portion.
