| I researched an Arab looking text and found it in an arab calligraphy website, this served as an important reference with lettering the card. I also decided to invert the writing to create a emphasis to the Thanks Brother text. I drew the circle with a template in pencil and then used the ink dropper to fill in the negative area and used the ink pen nib to outline the positive space leaving it blank or white in this case. I also created two stripes using tape and a brush with ink. Then filled in with the Ottoman calligraphy the words of "Thanks" in Turkish. This added variety and rhythm to the embellished edge that will be seen from the front of the card because of the textured edge of the card front. |
